The guide's incorrect spellings for "Teletran-1" and "Carlee" (as opposed to "Teletraan I" and "Carly") were carried over into the characters' Animated counterparts, although "Carlee" got corrected in issue 4 of the Arrival comic book. The "Teletran" spelling could well have resulted in Devil's Due's "Teletran 3" as well.

Finally, in the sections where book does deal directly with historical aspects of Generation One (in the pages covering the Marvel Comics, the cartoon and the toys), not one page passes without several errors. Several names are spelled incorrectly ("Teletran-1", "Carlee", "Eleta-1", "Sean Burger"), various 'toon and comic summaries have inaccuracies in them, and the toys used for images are old, ratty artefacts with peeling, misapplied stickers and various missing accessories. The episode guides for G1, Beast Wars, Beast Machines, and Armada are also condensed significantly into "best of" guides showcasing the finest episodes, or ones that push the story forward.
Style: 5 (Excellent!)Substance: 3 (Average)A hefty guide to G1 Transformers. Fun, loaded with great art, but with enough flaws to keep it from being a perfect sourcebook.Philip Reed has written 20 reviews, with average style of 4.35 and average substance of 3.50 The reviewer's previous review was of Hellboy: The Companion. The reviewer's next review is of Disciples of the Dark Gods.
The book is also a price guide. Remember that it is just a guide to give you a ballpark answer of what your figure might be worth and when it comes down to it your figure or vehicle is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. For example Starduster is listed at $75 MISB but it regularly sells on eBay loose for $175 and there are many figures that are listed for $25 loose that I can usually pick up for under $10.00. But the prices are going up even from 3 years ago and I know the GI Joe live-action movie is going to increase the popularity of the original line.

DK Publishing has produced ultimate guides for Batman, Spider-Man, and James Bond and now the Robots In Disguise has an extensive guide of their own. For fans of Transformers who live in the United States, this is a great book, however anybody who lives in Japan this book ignores the pre-US Transformers.
I never read the UK comics, which seem really great. The guide provided a number of stories I never new existed making this a true "ultimate guide". Fans that didn't grow up in the 80's will love this book since a great deal of the Transformer eras from the 90's is covered. Older fans like me will wish for more G1 Transformer information but appreciate the fact that DK Publishing tried to accommodate everybody. A great sequel to this book would be to focus on a number of the characters giving more information about the history of Soundwave, Starscream, and hell even Bumble Bee.
Yah the ultimate guide was great except there's not a version that goes past the classics area history wise. They relay need to update that thing. Lets cross our fingers that this new book has info we don't already know. 2ff7e9595c
